Injury management process
Here are the common steps to follow during injury management:
1. Injury occurs
- Take the injured employee to a medical practitioner for treatment
- The practitioner issues a Worker Compensation First Medical Certificate with the return to work guidelines
- Employee to complete the form then send it to the appropriate health and safety institution
- Preparation of the return to work program by the injury management consultant and issued to the employee, their manager or supervisor, and the medical practitioner.
2. Return to work
- Outline the return to work regulations in the plan
- Procedures implemented in case the injured employee fails to turn up after the stipulated recovery period
3. Ongoing management
- The manager or supervisor stays informed on the worker's progress through progress medical certificates.
- When the injured employee faces return to work challenges, and difficulty maintaining the initial productivity levels, inform the injury management consultant to appoint an approved vocational medical rehabilitation specialist
4. Finalization
- Cease the injury management once the worker resumes their regular duties and doesn't need any medical assistance. Also, finalize the claim with a worker's compensation medical certificate.
